Hummingbird Moment

I heard a sound like an angry bee
and swung around to see staring at me;

Intelligent eyes, a long pointed beak,
creamy white throat, and feathers glistening green;

The tiny shimmering visitor took her leave,
with a buzzing sound that excited me;

With wings so fast, a blur to see,
the precious little jewel flew up a tree;

Hummingbirds amazingly build their nests
with lichen and with spiders webs;

My little feathered friend came to rest
atop the babes with which she was blessed;

Little realizing she had made my day,
sharing a treasured moment before she sped away.

My name is Kathy Clark and I live in Hartselle, Alabama with my husband Tom, and my daughters, Michelle & Jessica, and granddaughter Tasha & great-granddaughter Ava living fairly close by. However I spent most of my life in Alaska where I learned to appreciate the world around me. I love God's creation and find photography a great way to capture some of that beauty. Digital photography made it even easier to do so. I use a Canon 7D and a Canon Rebel XTi, and Canon lenses, 18mm to 55mm, 75mm to 300mm, and my favorite a 100mm macro lens. I enjoying photographing flowers, especially wildflowers, insects, and birds, the most.
