These are beautiful cattail, Typha latifolia, aquatic or swamp plants native to North America, these growning Limestone County Alabama USA. The spires, or plumes are actually the flower of the plant.

My name is Kathy Clark and I live in Hartselle, Alabama with my husband Tom, and my daughters, Michelle & Jessica, and granddaughter Tasha & great-granddaughter Ava living fairly close by.
